Square Peg Society Is hosting an Open House on Saturday, April 13 at Jubilee United Church 6000 Sussex Ave, Burnaby Park underground beside 4717 Hazel St. United Church parking spaces are 1-29, or walk from Metrotown Skytrain Station.

Each April we re-commit to expanding our awareness and understanding of autism – in ourselves, our families and our communities, and to continue to tear away barriers to our success and happiness! In keeping with the above goals of Autism Awareness Month, Square Peg Society, together with partners from Canucks Autism, UBC’s Anxiety, Stress & Autism Program, and Jubilee United Church, is hosting an “Open House”.

This is an inclusive event – regardless of your neurodiversity, age, gender – you are welcome! Come and join us for any or all of the following events:

8:30am Yoga with Kiran 

11:00am-1:00pm  Let’s Make Soup!

Check out Jubilee’s kitchen,  learn some knife-use facts & skills & make & share some soup with us.

1:00pm – 3:00pm There are options!

• A Walk ‘n Talk toward Central Park -If you want to come early for soup-making, then you will start your walk from Jubilee United Church at 1pm. With Recreation Programmers from Canucks Autism.
• A Walk ‘n Talk, starting at Patterson Skytrain Station at 1:30pm. There you will connect with the Canucks Autism Recreation Programmers and the rest of the group to explore Central Park, returning to Jubilee at the end, for refreshments.

• Shared Stories – If you want to engage in one-on-one, 15-20 minute conversations with others you may not have met before. Come prepared to talk and to listen; gently guided by Kate Roh, from UBC’s ASAP team.

• Take-a-break tables; we will have a puzzle and a scrabble table for you to chill.

4:00-6:00pm Little Mountain Trio -an eclectic mix of bluegrass, country, folk and jazz.

No admission, but donations are gratefully appreciated.
