UBC Anxiety Stress and Autism Program

January 19 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm PST

Free

The Anxiety, Stress and Autism Program Lab conducts clinical and community-based research to estimate the frequency of anxiety and stress-related disorders among people on the autism spectrum. Principal investigator, Dr. Connor Kerns, PhD, Associate Professor,  and her research assistant, Kate Rho, will bring us up-to-date with their current research projects, aimed at better understanding the relationship between social and emotional processing and well-being in young adulthood.

The goals of their research are:

  • To better identify factors which might cause individuals to be at risk of these disorders
  • To develop guidelines and measures for clinicians for determining when an autistic individual is experiencing stress or trauma
  • To be able to effectively treat these conditions in community settings.
